A Sentimental Elopement at Horseshoe Bay | Dalany & Anthony
August 9th, 2024, will forever be etched in the hearts of Dalany and Anthony—not just as their wedding day, but as a beautiful full-circle moment. Exactly one year prior, Anthony had proposed to Dalany on the quiet shores of Horseshoe Bay in Copper Harbor, Michigan. And on that very same beach, surrounded by nature and emotion, they said their “I do’s.”
When we pulled into the parking lot that warm August afternoon, the sun was shining, but nature had its own plans. Dark clouds began to gather overhead, and soon a soft rain began to fall. But rain didn’t scare these two off—in fact, it only added to the romance of the day. With umbrellas in hand and hearts full of joy, they hiked the 15-minute trail down to the secluded shoreline of Horseshoe Bay.

In a twist that seemed like fate, we stumbled upon another couple also eloping on the beach—a rare coincidence, given how hidden this gem is. Rather than feeling disrupted, Dalany and Anthony were delighted to share the space. There was plenty of shoreline for both couples to experience their intimate moments.
Just as they prepared to exchange their vows, the rain eased into a gentle drizzle, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Then came a moment that stopped us all: Anthony pulled out a small teddy bear to honor Dalany’s late brother. The heartfelt gesture brought Dalany to tears, a touching reminder that love transcends this world.

With emotions high and hearts full, vows were exchanged, and their marriage was made official on a piece of driftwood nestled along the wooded edge of the beach. The intimacy and simplicity of that moment were everything an elopement should be.

Afterward, we captured some truly epic portraits on the rocky shores—waves lapping, mist in the air, and laughter echoing across the bay. We then made our way to Hunter’s Point Park, a nearby spot known for its rugged trails, crashing waves, and panoramic views of Lake Superior. It’s one of Copper Harbor’s best-kept secrets for portraits that feel wild and cinematic.
To cap off the day, we made one final stop at the Eagle River Courthouse, where Dalany and Anthony hand-delivered their marriage license. Outside the courthouse sits the most charming little mailbox—an unexpected but perfect detail to close out a day full of love. Since they live out of the area, it was the simplest way to officially seal the deal and hand deliver their marriage license.
This day was a reminder that love shows up rain or shine—and sometimes, the most meaningful weddings happen when the skies are unpredictable, the moments are unplanned, and the love is undeniable.
